The Roman Gold Mining Complex of Tresminas represents one of the most important gold holdings of the Roman Empire. For about 18 centuries. this mining heritage remained well preserved. which led to its classification in 1997. The fist and second centuries ADwere of intense mining activity. especially for gold exploration. but also other mineral such as silver and lead. This work resulted of exploration of craters in the open pitt. joined by an interesting set of underground galleries and wells.
