In the mid-19th century Raudondvaris became a parish. meriting a stone church. It was funded by count Benedykt Tyszkiewicz and designed by Italian architect Cesare Anichini. The church was built in 1857 and consecrated by Bishop Motiejus Valančius.
Unfortunately. the splendidly decorated church was completely destroyed in 1915. New St Theresa of the Child Jesus Church was rebuilt of the base of previous church in 1938. It is a rectangular-outline building with neo-Baroque and neo-Classicist features. crowned with two spires.
Inside the church you can admire paintings of the Stations of the Cross. by Aleksandras Sledzinskis. which decorate the nave and two aisles. as do Georgio Berti’s “Blessed Virgin Mary with Child and Death of Saint Joseph”. The side altar contains tombstone of white Carrara marble for Vanda Tyszkiewicz. tombstones for her son Mykal Tyszkiewicz. her granddaughter-in-law Elizabeth Clara Bancroft-Tyszkiewicz. which were designed by Italian sculptor Luigi Pampaloni. The Tyszkiewicz mausoleum was destroyed. so members of the noble family now rest in the churchyard.
