45.- Palace and chapel of Marqués de Ferrera (Luarca)
This palace has its origins in a defensive tower of the 18th century from which the current building started to be constructed. Nowadays. the building is structured around three bodies. adapted to the space of a very steep street. The main body is perpendicular to the street and to the Camino de Santiago (which currently housed the Casa Cultural of Luarca). meanwhile the oldest centre of the complex is constructed on the other side of the street (the current police headquarters). Both structures are joined by an elevated passageway that passes through the street. On the rear façade there is a chapel. the third body of construction. which is also joined to the complex by means of another passageway. The main façade. which adjoins the Camino. opens to the exterior by means of a great semi-circular arch. with very developed keystones. in which the entry door is located and flanked by small flat-arched windows. On the last floor there are two bays on the right axis that define the floor. These openings serve as a balcony. over the access door. This makes the façade be from the 15th or beginning of the 16th century.
The capital is joined to the neighbouring palace by means of a passageway. It is a rectangular ground plan building. whose main façade is located on one of the long sides. looking towards the Camino de Santiago.
This façade is structured around an axis (framed by pilasters). shifted towards the left. The lower part is dominated by an entry door. flat-arched and with block surrounds. There is an eyepiece with a semi-circular form that is finished with a simple bell gable. a plain pediment and pinnacles. The inside has a single nave. a choir screen and a straight front.
