23.- Llanes’ Casino
Building from 1910 designed by the architect Juan Álvarez Mendoza. It stands on the site that previously occupied the indoor market. in an area that had been liberated in the 19th century thanks to the demolition of the old walls.
It was promoted by the Llanes Casino Society. in which a large part of the town’s high society participated. and to a large extent integrated by wealthy Indians in America.
The building is built in a Modernist style. Its highlight is the decorative richness of its façade. consisting of a central body of two floors and two three-floor towers that flank it. This façade is filled with decorative elements alternating balconies. numerous vegetable ornaments and female mascarons. Progressively abandoned. it finally became property of the town council and currently houses a cultural centre.
