The Monument to the Emigrant Sailor was carved by Maxín Picallo (Cuntis). At the end of the nineties, Luis Pérez Álvarez, better known as Luis de Nacidas, created a commission to acquire a monument in honor of migrants and sailors. In 1988, when the promoter passed away, a piece by the renowned sculptor of Cuntis Magín Picallo was installed on the promenade. It was supported by local contributions, the City Council, the Provincial Council and the Board. The emigrant appears with a sack the back, the sailor, with the net in his hand. On each side are their wives, symbolizing, one, the pain of those who lost their husband at sea and the other, with a dove in his hand, in the hope of return.
