The current hermitage is a small and simple building made of of uncertain origin. erected in a natural location. a place of worship of pagan origin and. probably. prehistoric. The references to its existence go back to the 15th century. being practically reconstructed in the 19th century and renovated during the last century. On the external part of the temple. the Archbishop Rodrigo de Luna's (1449-1460) coat of arms can be seen as well as a high-relief representing the baptism of the queen by the apostle . Inside there is a seated image of whose fingers have been worn down due to their continuous rubbing by the pilgrims throughout the centuries. Nowadays this custom is limited to the day of . which is celebrated on the 25th of July.
