It is a fifteenth century Gothic style church located in the town of Betanzos. which was declared a Heritage Site. It was built by Fernán Pérez de Andrade *O Mozo*. feudal lord of the region. on top of another older. Romanesque church. It has a basilica-based design which consists of three naves. the central one. wider than the lateral ones. and of three apses. The pillars of the nave are square-section with semi-columns on the fronts. The High Chapel is covered with an abacus vault with rectangular ribs. The main façade was rebuilt between 1899 and 1901. due to the poor condition of the previous one. of which only the Gothic façade dedicated to Santiago remains. This doorway is ornamented with archivolts. jamb columns and a tympanum decorated with an image of Santiago. Over the entrance there is a rose window. which gives way to the cornice which is decorated with small blind arches. This church is a beautiful example of the transition from the Romanesque to the Gothic style.
